Snow Day!

I was COOOLLLDDD and snowy today. Heath wanted to make sure the sidewalks were clear for his MIL and preggo wifey (so sweet). Paisley just stood at the door watching her daddy and waving at him. She doesn't know what to think of all of this snow! It was the cutest sight and when Crosby asked if they could go outside and play it didn't take long to convince me to help them bundle up. After all it is Kansas and we never know how long the snow will stick around!

I was early evening and quite cold but they didn't seem to mind. Even Paisley who normally REFUSES to wear her hat had no problem getting in her snow gear. She just stood and MARVELED at the snow. She absolutely was in awe. She didn't touch the snow and hardly left one spot. It was a very sweet and innocent sight for me to watch her taking in this new wonder. She was VERY sad when it was time to go in. She just cried and cried :(

Crosby LOVES to dig and play in the snow. She was wailing snowballs at everyone in her path including her baby sister! It doesn't take her long to get cold though so she didn't last too long outside (oh darn!) She didn't know what to think about all of the gear she had to wear. I think she likes her new boots but the gloves and coat were off and on the whole time and she HATED her snow suit. She said it rides up on her too much!! haha!

Adler and Dane (next door) had fun shoveling snow at both houses. They stayed outside until after dark and she had to be called in for dinner!
The best part of the day was school cancellation in Belle Plaine for me!! We stayed home and kept warm. The temps were absolutely freezing and I was glad not to have to get out in it. The one downfall to my day was the realization that it is VERY difficult for me to keep up with Paisley. She is the busiest little one I have ever had and being 7 months pregnant makes for a challenge! I was READY for her "dada" to get home and give me some relief! When he walked in I was so happy to see him and I told him I decided it was DEFINITELY easier to teach high schoolers than chase her around all day!

Happy Birthday Little Paisley...Happy Birthday to You!

Well, today is the big day. I can't quit saying that this has been the fastest year of my life. My friend Elo tells me that it is because all we do is give baths and wipe butts and time flies!! HA! Today is our little one's birthday and she couldn't be more special to us. We have had the best year watching her grow.

***Hold please...I just had to stop blogging because the birthday girls just BARFED everywhere for no apparent reason!...Elo is RIGHT! A mom's job is never ending!***

We had her party at our house on Friday night. Here is our little Ninny (as we call her) opening presents with her big sissy Chelo.

I had her party outfit picked out for MONTHS! One of my DEAR teacher friends, Amy, got her this ADORABLE ruffled dress and striped leggings in Colorado when she was born. Hot pink, satin, tulle...it gets NO cuter than that in her mommy's eyes!! and her shoes!! Fuzzy pink cheetah fabric with patent leather toes! and the kicker...they squeak when she walks!

We got her her first "Bike" for the big day and she LOVES to ride it!

Her own little cake!

She didn't quite know what to do with it at first.

She took tiny little bites...

Then her sissies showed her how to dig in.

She got a few big bites and then she was done. None of my girls really like to be messy and Paisley is no exception! She was ready to be cleaned up!
Her Auntie Teresa found her this adorable head band and matching bloomers! LOVE!

We had a great party to celebrate a great first year of our little girl's life.
Paisley's recent milestones:
  • She is running now instead of walking!
  • She is still getting into EVERYTHING. She especially loves opening the pantry and playing with the wax paper and foil!
  • She is saying many words (and using them correctly): Mama, Dada, Bruiser, Bye, Fishy, PupPup, MoMo, Addie, Sissy, PatPat, Bahbah (bottle), she makes this little GullyGullyGully noise when she is sucking her thumb- we think it is the cutest!
  • She is working on her 8th tooth

We LoVe you Ninny Wunkles!! Happy BirtHdaY!

10 Months Old!!

And she is FULL on Walking! No longer crawling at all. And getting into EVERYTHING. I can't take my eyes off of her for a second. She knows EXACTLY what she is not to get into (dog bowl, light socket, wine rack, cups full of liquid left on the coffee table, stairs....) and that is what she goes for first!! It is exhausting keeping up with her and I am still taking a morning nap at the same time she does and then the rest of her naps are spent getting things done or hanging out with the big girls.

Here is what else Paisley is up to at 10 months:
  • she has her two top and two bottom teeth
  • her top teeth have a gap between them just like Crosby and I did
  • she BARELY bends her knees when she walks so she wobbles all over the house
  • her favorite toy is still her singing piggy (i think she likes it cause it is so soft!)
  • she LOVES her soft blankies and if you ask her "Is that your soffie?" she will rub her face back and forth on it!
  • She says MAMA especially when she is upset and needing me. This is a great first for me as a mom because all of her sister's first word was DADA!
  • She eats all table food and loves everything!
  • She always stands up in her high chair and it drives me CRAZY!
  • We call her "Skinny Ninny" "Ninny Marie" "Paileys" ...all kinds of random stuff!
  • She is a very happy and easy going baby. But once in a while she can be Stubborn!!
  • She is in a big girl car seat now
  • She LOVES to watch the puppies, kitties, and birds. She can be mesmerized by them!

Well, that is all I can think of for now....she is napping so it is off to get a few more things done! we have Bluegrass and CropAGanza both coming up this week! Oh yeah and back to school for the girls! And they are READY!!!

Paisley's First Steps!!!! and More.....

So this busy little thing is up to A LOT these days!! Do you love her "jumping" on the trampoline?!?! Every once in a while she will actually get a little air under her feet!!

as you can see she has crawling and standing down pat...she stared taking her first unassisted steps at the first of August.

Now she is up to eight!! It is pretty exciting to watch! Please forgive me for letting my baby cry in this last video. I really wanted to get her to walk on camera so after the 4 + above attempts I had to bribe her with my cell phone and it made her mad because I kept stepping away from her! Rest assured that she is happy and healthy now!! I predict that she will be full on walking in a week. She is consistently taking the 8 or so steps several times a day and it seems like each day she gets a little more steady and adds another step!!

We had Paisley baptized today at our church in Ark City. She wore the same christening gown I wore when I was a baby! She is so lucky to have Anna and Randy for her Godparents. They are such wonderful people and will always be very active in her life. After church we all went to the steak house in Ark City for lunch!! Our favorite place to go with Grandma Eaton when the big girls were little and Crosby was a baby. It was a great day and we are so blessed to have so many special people in our lives.

Look What Miss Paisley is up to Now!

It won't be long now!! She is also standing holding on to something and then letting go and balancing for a few seconds. We are excited for her to start walking....but I hope I don't have to eat my words!!

Paisley's 1st Baby Food!

So with her turning SIX months old yesterday came several things. The first was the plan to introduce baby food (starting with veggies and working our way up to bananas). I knew a bathie for her would SURELY follow so I wanted to wait til I had some quiet time-just for her. And if you have been to my house in recent months you will know that those moments are few and far!!

Luckily tonight Crosby had a soccer game and after Dad took the big girls to softball practice. While Crosby was playing outside with the neighbor kids I thought this would be a perfect time to have her first taste of "big girl" food! Little did I consider that I was the only big person home at the time and taking the MUST HAVE first footage proved to be a challenge so please Bear With the bouncy video!!!

Let's try some more!!

As you can see she just didn't love! I have read that it MAY take 3-4 times to introduce a new food to babies before they acclimate. AND that picky-ness and food dislike are ENVIRONMENTAL (excluding allergies) so I am planning to introduce this little one to a wide variety of goodness --cause we KNOW I have 2 pickies at my house and it makes for difficult meals at times!

Next up, more veggies...fruits...and white grape and apple juice (heavily diluted!!) I may even try my hand at some homemade organic baby food this summer. Wish us luck!

Paisley's First Rice Cereal

We gave Paisley her first solid food today!  It was a pretty big deal for us and we were EXCITED!  Our little baby will be FOUR months old on Tuesday!  So hard to believe--I know the first year goes fast but MAN this is going tooo fast almost!  My plan has been to transition her to formula in the next week or two and introduce cereal at least once a day.  She has been doing great with the formula so far and although I am a little sad that I will no longer be nursing her, i think it will do WONDERS on my stress level without having to pump constantly and be the only one who can feed her.  As far as her first day with a spoon went....well, she made her funny confused face she makes (more on that one later--I have a funny story to go with that!) and spit it out about as fast as I was putting it in.  I am not discouraged though because I know that after 4-5 days she will probably be a "baby pro" with her big girl cereal.  I did get a little footage of the big day as well.....
