Turkey Day and Black Friday!

I took MANY pictures of the girls today but had trouble getting everyone to cooperate...only then to notice my scrubby chillin in the background of every picture! HA! Little Ninny and I started our day early. She is an early riser (6:30-7am) so we got up and fixed breakfast for the family and started on some holiday cooking. since my mother does the majority of the cooking, my job is pretty easy. Green bean casserole, veggie and cheese trays, and a nice clean house! That I can handle! We were lucky this year to have grandpa AND grandma curtis with us. For the last 10 or 12 years Grandma has had to work Thanksgiving day so we didn't have her (or her dozens of deviled eggs and pumpkin pies) with us. Our little family ate our feast and just enjoyed each other's company...UNTIL....it was time to break out the ADS and discuss our lists for the black friday sales!

This is a FAVORITE annual activity for Heath and I. We have a great time shopping for the girls and fighting the crowds for BARGAINS GALORE! This year black friday at Walmart started at 12:01am. We had one key item in mind so we got the girls all cozy at Grammy's.....

and hit the stores at 10pm. We were definitely some of the first b.f. shoppers at wally world but it didn't take long for the store to fill up. (i LOVE this picture of us out in the cold ready to shop! Heath bugging his eyes to keep them open. waahaha!)
After some scheming and strategizing we were able to position ourselves correctly and snag all of our bargains! Woohoo! It is a RUSH to get everything we are after in such a short time!
Next it was a quick pit stop at home to drop off our purchases and prepare for ROUND TWO! We rolled to target to see what damage we could do there. This was our first time going to Wichita on bf so we were a little unsure of what to expect. Teresa and I had gone to Best Buy many moons ago and all I remember was the cooold and the madness!
We got to Target about 2am. Heath jumped in a line (that extended the length of the building)
and the wait began. I ran to the mall to check out Old Navy and a few others. I found A FEW bargains but NO $5 pair of kids sweatpants will get me to stand in a 2 hour+ check out line that wove through the entire store! It was crazy! No WAY! I hit a few other stores (it was AMAZING how many stores stayed open all night long this year) but I didn't find any bargains good enough to stray from my list. I stopped to get us some coffees and join the scrubs in line. By that time it was about 3:30am so I only had to freeze for about 30 minutes. Nothing compared to what Heath had to deal with..but he had an agenda...he had decided that it was time for us to get a new tv! YAY! So he was a man on a mission! He had to RUN through the store to get to the flat screens which ironically enough were in the maternity section (an area he was well familiar with...he had just stood there a few days ago waiting for me to pick up a few things!). He didn't get the tv he was going for but DID get another great buy that wasn't pictured in the ad so it all worked out. We snatched up and few other goodies on our list then headed to the checkout line (aka Mob Scene!). Our line went pretty quickly and after another quick run through Starbux we were on the road back to Winfield! By this time it was about 5:30am! On the way home, I was beginning to feel SUPA tired and a little sore (from all of the pushing and reaching and scurrying) but we decided to make a trip back to Walmart in Winfield! The checkout clerk asked of our adventures that evening and just thought we were nuts! "To each his own" as my mother would say!! I picked up 2 more sets of picture frames and we decided to grab a couple more movies. It was SLIM pickins but we wanted to find a couple of Blue Rays for our new tv.

We got home about 6:30am and I was exhausted after our 24 hour adventure! I headed straight to bed but Heath started putting together the tv and stand and still hasn't gone to bed! It is now 1pm and he is in the kitchen doing dishes! What a GUY! I bet once he sits down though he is OUT! Paisley just went down for a nap and now that I have gotten some leftovers in my tummy I am off to join her (since the girls have claimed the new tv as their own I will have to watch my movie later!)
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! And if that included shopping, i hope you found some great bargains!!!

Babies!!

Friday morning Heath and I got up at 4am to do our traditional Black Friday shopping. We went to WalMart and a few places in ArkCity. My mom had come down to spend the night and took care of the little girls for us. We got some good bargains and are really getting excited for Christmas now. If only we could find the time/energy to get out the tree and lights! After we had recuperated from that adventure we had one more get together to go to- wrapping up our Thanksgiving weekend. We went to Ark City to visit some of Heath's family (the Sturds/Eatons). We really like it there...everyone is sooo nice and there are always people coming and going and hanging out (much like I see our house as the girls get bigger!) The most exciting reason for us to get together this year...2 new babies in the family!! Paisley and her new cousin Audryee (who was born 2 days after on November 4th).

Too cute!
Audryee is definitely long and thin like her momma's family and Paisley...well she's a Curtis. Enough said!! =)

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is the toughest holiday for me... I don't have family on my side to get together with and the 2 big girls were both gone for the holiday so mom, heath, and I decided not to do the whole big dinner. It is pretty sad but that is just how it is for us right now. We decided that no matter what we would have a dinner at our house next year on Thanksgiving Day even if it is just us (we will have the big girls next year ). It is hard when I think about it too much...with my dad and grandparents being gone and the rest of my family spread out all over the world...we really are thankful to have my mom and Heath's family but I miss my brother's family and all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins soo much this time of year. So HECK with it...we had an invite to go with our oldest friends, the Madrigals, to celebrate with them. We went out to David and Jennifer's (who is also Adler's teacher at school) for lunch. We ate a ton of great food and then just relaxed for a while after. Heath had to go to work for a little bit, so we were back home by four.

And I think we are going to have to move to the country! Crosby had so much fun just running and playing all over outside at their house! If we had a house with some land like this we probably wouldn't see much of her...she is just a PLAYER!!! She loves to be outside no matter the temperature!

Curtis Family Disco Thanksgiving

Grandpa and Grandma Curtis decided this year to add a theme to our family's Thanksgiving celebration. My nephew Hagan (who broke his leg 5 minutes into the party and spent the night in the ER) requested that we have a disco...so that we did. Grandma had purchased costumes for everyone so we quickly took a couple of family pics in our regular clothes before changing. I thought the girls looked too cute---Paisley got this CUTE red and pink outfit from the Bennetts and I thought the outfit would only be complete with a giant flower!!!

TJ and Kel--decked out!

Crosby and her bestest cousin Adalinn looking too adorable!
