As always, Easter is one BUSY holiday!! There are just so many fun things going on we are pretty busy all weekend, non-stop. Since our time with the big girls changes (we only have them every other year, each holiday) we try to be positive and accept that it is our situation and celebrate as normal but miss them like crazy!!! As you will see, Adler isn't in any of the Easter pics because she was with Terah and Dalton in Liberal this year. Our holidays are a wonderful mix of tradition and new adventure and I LOVE that!
This year the Curtis kids dyed eggs at TJ and Kelli's in Ark City.
A tradition from my childhood that I have passed on to my daughters is the Bunny Nest. The night before Easter each girl makes a "nest" out of blankets outside their bedroom doors for the Easter Bunny to leave them goodies in. Here is a picture of Crosby with her nest---what a HAUL!! She got a whole bunch of fun Spring toys and candy.
As we did last year (follow this link to read our 2009 Easter post) we went to church at Trinity in Ark City with our Curtis cousins. This year Kel and I (the dads were hiding eggs for the afternoon's hunt) had SEVEN kiddos with us. The six girls and Eyan!! What we were thinking I will never know. We took up a whole pew and it was a LIVELY bunch!! We had 2 babies squealing, coloring, toy playing, boredom, and attempted texting, all while Kel and I were standing, sitting, kneeling, singing, and trying to follow the service!!! At one point my niece Braylinn decided she was ready to be finished with the Easter service and wanted to let GOD hear about it in a BIG way!!!! Kel took her outside to attempt to quiet her. In the mean time baby Paisley (at her first church service) decided to agree with her cousin!! I tried rocking, calming, and walking her at the back of the sanctuary but to no avail. I finally gave up and headed outside to join Kelli. After a few minutes outside I realized that Kelli's car was not parked behind mine anymore and figured she must have decided to run Bray to her daddy...which was just fine until I realized that there were FIVE kids unattended in church!! So I high tailed it back inside-crying baby in tow!! Luckily the kiddos were being good and Mother Betty insisted that the sounds of children only added joy to the service---i KNEW that was directed at us!! I am sure Kelli and I had some hugely apoloqetic looks on our faces!!! Anyway- we survived the service and concluded that this was an experience we would NEVER forget and we were glad we went!!
Our church has an egg hunt right after the service and the little ones had a great time with that!
After church it was out to Adalinn's "Nana" and Grandpa Graves' house to spend the afternoon.
They have an AMAZING amount of land that the daddy's had hidden eggs on. It was AWESOME to see them running in all directions in search of the candy filled eggs!!
Here are some FUN little videos of the kiddos on the "hunt"!
We forgot to tell Addy and Cros that there were PLENTY of eggs!! No need to compete for the same one!
Braylinn and Aunt Kelli walking around taking pictures. She got some REALLY good ones (some of these are "borrowed" from her blog---her camera is about 100x better than mine!! I know what I am asking for for Mother's Day!!)
Chelo in her pretty Easter dress with her basket of Eggs...
and after the hunt....we had a FEAST of food to celebrate the day!! Wow, it definitely made me stop to think how lucky we are to have so many blessing and to be surrounded by friends and family on such a BEAUTIFUL day!
OM, I almost forgot these pictures....
I gave Adalinn my camera and she ended up with several good ones!! Notice the lower vantage point!! LOVE IT!!
I think Heath wanted a different partner!! We did okay but I kept thinking it was going to break all over me and eventually I jumped out of the way and it broke on the ground. I was REALLY surprised how far apart some of the teams got-IMPRESSIVE! Then we realized the winning team had a hard boiled egg- cheaters!!
These last two pics were taken by Aunt Kelli. Aren't they sooo good?!?! I can't WAIT to scrapbook these wonderful pictures of her on her first Easter---thanks Kel!
Her Grammy will LOVE this one!!
Happy Easter to all of our friends and family...ours is a life that is truly BLESSED...and hectic!!
