Natural Light Photo Session with Paisley

Did you read last weeks post on the Attic blog with Guest Blogger Laura McPherson of Elephant Juice Designs?  Well, if you didn't go check that out really quick then come back and read this one!!

I was REALLY inspired by her suggestions and couldn't wait til the weekend came to grab my FAVORITE 3 month old and try out some Natural Light photos with my flash off!  I know...I know... I'm Living on the EDGE!!!  Now, just to warn you I have a POS camera that I believe stands for both "Point and Shoot" and "Piece of S#!+" haha!!  As far as cameras go it does what I need it to do...takes tons of quick pics and fits right in my purse since most everything we do is on the go.  But compared to the cameras most of my friends have it is definitely the LATTER!!!  for my bday I am considering an upgrade but I just can't do big and bulky for this stage in my life so it looks like I will be sticking with a POS just a better model!!!  Any suggestions blog readers???

So here is an example of a pic I took of Paisley last month....  dark and shadowy.  i knew it was this way when I took it but didn't know what to do about it!!  Until now!!!
I looked for the best natural light in my house and that was by the front door.  I keep my house pretty dark-shades closed and curtains drawn pretty much year round to keep out the elements (except in the Spring of course, but I am not sure we are going to ever see those days again at this point!!! :)

Now I know these are nowhere near professional...but much better, right????  Don't you LOVE this face--- to me it says:
"whatcha doin' mommy?"
This one is pretty blurry but I wanted to show all of the natural shadows I was getting!  LOVE IT!!  That is one problem I did have---without the flash they came out "blurrier" for some reason.
She was too busy looking out the front door to notice me, so most everything was profile!!!
Right as she was starting to have enough of her Bumbo and my MESSING with her, I remembered how awesome the natural light in her room is so off we went.  By the time we got up there she was OVER being my photo shoot model and just wanted to suck her thumb-y and lay down.  I did take a few though to capture the light up there (I will work more on pics in her room next weekend).

This is a photo with the flash on......

and here is flash off....
now I know the last 2 are just not good poses or pics but I wanted to post them to show the difference in flash vs no flash in a well lit area.  Thanks for the tips Laura!!  My little POS and I will never have the same relationship again!  We have been changed for the better!
