Play Ball!

We started softball this week. Of course both games were in Ark City but at least they were on the same night!! The big girls did a GREAT job (more pics/vid of them to come). Adler caught and Chelo played infield.

I had my hands FULL with the baby (since Heath coaches BOTH teams I get to fly solo with her every time!!) so I didn't get to take any pictures. I wanted to get a video of Crosby's VERY first ever at bat. I kinda got caught up in the moment so this is a TERRIBLE video but what can I say?!?!? Oh and I just realized that I filmed it VERTICALLY too so you will need to turn your head!! OOPS!

Ripits End of the Year Cookout and Softball Game

Friday night the Ripits celebrated a GREAT season with an end of the year cookout and family vs girls softball game. I was REALLY beat from a long first week of work but I new this would be a good time so I told Heath to give me a call once the food was ready and I would meet them down there!!! On my way Heath called and asked me to stop and get some beer cause most of the dads were having a couple so I did. I could only IMAGINE the reactions this 7 month preggo girl was getting walking out of the store with a 12 pack!! Doesn't bother me!! When I got down to the ballpark the parents were meeting about the 2 tournaments the girls are going to play this fall. It seems like they are all around Bluegrass time so we shall see how that all works out!! After the AWESOME dinner (hotdogs, tons of fresh fruit, deviled eggs, pickles, pasta salads, and desserts--pregnant woman HEAVEN!!!) the families teamed up against the Ripits for a friendly softball game ;) Crosby was sooo thrilled to get to play and kept saying "i can't believe I get to play in my very first softball game!!!"

Warm-ups!!!
Ashley pitches to Dad with Adler catching. She NAILED him with a pitch right in the shoulder to start off the game!!! OUCH!!! Good thing Adler and Chelo opted out of pitching!!

Adler waiting for her pitch from Coach Brian...

Crosby took her job as second baseman very seriously!!!

This was a MAJOR collision with Adler running the bases and Dad and Crosby playing second. Adler ended up on the ground with a hurt butt cheek!!

Adler pitches to Dean.

Crosby gets her turn at the plate. It was the cutest thing ever!! She had a great hit and ended up making it home!!

Chelo gets a hit off of dear ole' dad!!!

Go Crosby GO!!! Look how fast her little legs go!!

Daddy's Up To Bat

We didn't have anything going on Monday night and when Heath got a call to sub for softball he decided to play. Crosby and I went to watch. She was sooo funny standing on the bleachers cheering for her daddy. She was saying cheers that she has learned watching the big girls play ball this summer so this is what she was saying:

"Daddy's up to bat

He'll give the ball a whack

if I were you I'd scoot your booties back

way back, way back, way way way back!!"
Well, I'll tell ya what... he sure surprised me. I thought he was pretty out of shape but he did hit the crap out of the ball and over the heads of the outfielders one time up to bat. The guys on the team were all cheering for him and CROSBY for singing the cheers that helped him hit so far!! It was soo cute. He had a few other good base hits and hauled booty around the bases...I was pretty impressed! I mean I know that my husband is a great ball player but he claims he is old and out of shape but when he is out there it is just like the old days!! Let me tell you about this one at bat though.... he foul tipped the ball but from far away it looked like he took a big cut and just WHIFFED it!! He looked over at me and I started DYING with laughter! He gets me this way... if something is funny and we make eye contact I know he got it too and I can't quit laughing. So I am rolling on the bleachers and the team is laughing too cracking jokes about whether or not I got the "hit" on camera! (Oh and I am SURE Heath loveloveloved that I had my camera out snapping pictures of his substitute softball league performance!!) So, the next pitch he hit a high infield fly which is sooo not typical of him and after the game he came over and told me that there is NO WAY he could've hit the ball with me over there laughing!!
