Pitch Party!!!

mr. curtis decided that he was in the mood to play some pitch so we called the johnson's and harden's to come over and learn. I have played somethings like it before (hearts, spades and maybe pitch) but it has been so long that a refresher was needed!!! I decided at the last minute that we could NOT have a pitch party without crazy hats (a long running tradition of ours while playing cards!) It is just so much more fun to play cards and not take yourself so seriously when wearing a crazy hat!!!

da boyz (Heath had cat ears on top of his hat at one point---until they fell off and we found Bruiser chewing on them!! Darn dog!)

The kids were all snuggled up on the chair together--sooooo cute!! I love that the girls have a brother in Davin. He is so good to them and has a strong relationship with each girl differently. He is a very special guy to us!!

and then there was my early bird. Ads is always the first to crash no matter what is going on!!
It was a good night had by all! We didn't get many rounds of pitch in (maybe 3 or four) once we got the hang of it! but we didn't care...it was fun to laugh and visit!!

Happy New Year!!!

We were invited to Casa Wood for New Year's eve. We started out the evening relaxing at the Ridge but they closed at 9pm!!! so we headed back to their house to hang out til midnight. I was a good time spent with our close friends.

The boys!!! Heath thinks Robbie is a little stinky!!!

We had a ride that night but when saw that the KSOK Fun Bus was giving free rides we just couldn't pass up the opportunity!!!

How was Ryno able to drive with sooo many people huddled around him trying to get a group pic? Too much fun!
Happy New Year 2010 to all of our friends and family!!!

The Curtis/Harden/Johnson Annual Christmas Dinner

Each year we get together with the Harden's and the Johnson's for a little seasonal celebration. This year Heath made brisket and we made eggnog in Dave's new blender.

Here are the kiddos having their gift exchange After we ate we played a homemade game of "Would you Rather...?"
We each put slips of paper into the hat listing two options of things you would rather do and the person who drew it read it aloud and chose the lesser of the two evils!!!

As you can imagine with this group the slips of paper got pretty interesting. Much to his dismay many of the options included "...or wear Dave's holiday sweater?" (as seen below)
There is of course nothing wrong with Dave's sweater but we were giving him a hard time because he had also worn it on Thanksgiving (see those pics for confirmation!) so we assumed it was his FESTIVE holiday sweater!!!

And as if he hasn't been picked on enough this year, (I KNOW you all saw the post of his BUMBUM on a Christmas card!!!!) someone suggested we all take pictures wearing "the sweater." Here is Dave probably sick of us and wishing he wouldn't have worn this sweater tonight!!

Heath "Excitement " Curtis as the Harden's call him

Dave's SIL Anna (who he picks on ENDLESSLY) happily donning the sweater!

Uncle Randy aka Chachi looking not too shabby!

Silly Auntie Teresa!

they thought I looked best with my hair tucked into le sweater!

Getting Cros Cros in on the fun!!
As always we laughed our heads off and had a great time with our extended family!

OMG Merry Christmas!!!

What a story we have to tell this year and for many to come.... last Friday night Teresa asked me to help her put together a Christmas card from her family. And that is sooo not all! Last Christmas Teresa put a black and red silky thong in Dave's stocking. When they came over to celebrate the New Year I HAD to ask Dave how he was enjoying his new thong and to my surprise he said "I have it on!" and not so much to my surprise he proudly showed it to me and graciously waited for me to get my camera so I could document the moment!!! ONLY DAVE! So, last week I came across the picture on my phone (did I mention I had time to get my phone to take a pic too!?!? I HAD to OVER document this moment!) and I sent Dave a "blackmail" picture text message. Well, since he didn't comply to my request of $1,000 in small bills placed in my mailbox before his New Year's picture went global, I couldn't help but comply with Teresa's help for a Naughty-Yet-Festive Christmas pict-o-card!! We sent the cards to be printed at our friendly neighborhood box-store and Heath was more than happy to go in and retrieve those for us (we were a little chicken to say the least!) Well, as the girls and I were waiting in the parking lot for what seemed like FOR-EVAH I started to get visions of my sweet husband, detained in some little room off of the print shop being questioned for printing some compromising holiday photos! He finally emerged, cards in hand with a ear to ear grin on his face! He had to track down a busy employee from electronics to get the cards that had no idea what was in the envelope! So, that evening the guys had put together a card game at the Greendoor and Teresa and I thought...what a perfect time for the unveiling! We loaded up the kiddos, put on a Christmas movie in the car, and ran in to deliver some holiday cheer! As the guys opened their cards, one by one grown men were ROLLING on the floor with laughter and poor Dave was hit with quite the Christmas surprise! Teresa had asked him earlier in the day for a list of people (including his bosses!) that he wanted their "family" card sent to. Now, she did order FORTY copies but refrained from sending them to anyone who could handle opening a holiday greeting that included a picture of Dave in his Christmas thong that read "Dave couldn't BARE the thought of not sending you a card this year! Have a very hairy Merry Christmas! Be Jolly by Golly! Love, the Hardens!" The following are a few pics of the guys enjoying their little gifts!! Look closely and you can see Patrick holding his copy!

Robbie was just DYING!!!! Whew, that was quite a post but I couldn't skip out on sharing this wonderful Christmas story filled with holiday cheer!

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is the toughest holiday for me... I don't have family on my side to get together with and the 2 big girls were both gone for the holiday so mom, heath, and I decided not to do the whole big dinner. It is pretty sad but that is just how it is for us right now. We decided that no matter what we would have a dinner at our house next year on Thanksgiving Day even if it is just us (we will have the big girls next year ). It is hard when I think about it too much...with my dad and grandparents being gone and the rest of my family spread out all over the world...we really are thankful to have my mom and Heath's family but I miss my brother's family and all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins soo much this time of year. So HECK with it...we had an invite to go with our oldest friends, the Madrigals, to celebrate with them. We went out to David and Jennifer's (who is also Adler's teacher at school) for lunch. We ate a ton of great food and then just relaxed for a while after. Heath had to go to work for a little bit, so we were back home by four.

And I think we are going to have to move to the country! Crosby had so much fun just running and playing all over outside at their house! If we had a house with some land like this we probably wouldn't see much of her...she is just a PLAYER!!! She loves to be outside no matter the temperature!

Nice Little Saturday!

My wonderful photographer friend Kristy Mullins came back down today to retake some of the family pictures. She got some really good ones today so stay tuned!!! Aunt Becky stopped by to hold her great niece

Adalinn and Kaitlinn came over to play while their mom and dad went to Eyan's go cart banquet.

Way to go E!
Teresa and Dave came over this evening for dinner. Teresa and I had a million laughs listening to Dave and Heath calling people to invite them to their "Dude's Hot Tub Party!" The whole thing started as a conversation about Heath and I getting a hot tub and Dave saying he could get some guys to help move it without any problem. I then suggested that once the got it moved they could have a little get together with the friends that helped them (it is what I would do!!). Dave told me that guys would not come to an all dude hot tub party and the next thing we knew both Dave and Heath were on the phone seeing who could get the most friends to come to the "Dude Hot tub Party." Teresa and I were DYING with laughter and the two of them and how guys can turn anything into a competition! So if your household got a strange call Saturday night about a party at the Curtis Casa...well, it will probably happen eventually (but there will be NO Topless Cocktail Waitresses as promised by Dave!)
